Mining and Earning

Mining and Earning

Multimining is activated by default on licensed gateways. Access the multimining features via the Local Dashboard of your gateway: navigate to your gateway's Local Dashboard, select 'Multimining' from the menu and choose which projects to add to your gateway.

During the beta phase of the Multimining feature, it is free to use for everyone after switching your gateway's firmware to the beta branch.

Do nothing and remain Participated in Proof Of Trust in order to keep earning rewards. Only if you decide to stop providing rewarded coverage with your gateway, you should unparticipate from Proof Of Trust (PoT). You are able to fully and costlessly withdraw all your staked tokens after the 1 year term ends. Unparticipating and withdrawing your tokens before the 1 year term is possible. However, this will result in paying an early termination fee of 50% of your staked tokens. Wait until after the 1 year Term ends to avoid the fee.

You need a LoRaWAN gateway with an antenna. Such devices are widely available. They can be bought on various (secondhand) markets or you can build one yourself. Any basic computing device (like a Raspberry Pi) with a connected LoRaWAN radio module and an antenna will work. Crankk supports over 26 known gateway models and encourages the use of DIY gateways.

Crankk (CRKK) tokens are earned by setting up a LoRaWAN gateway that provides wireless IoT coverage. The rewarded tokens are distributed based on the amount and quality of coverage provided by your setup. Get started with Crankk by installing Crankk firmware to your gateway, onboarding your gateway to the Crankk network, buying a license and participating in providing coverage by staking a portion of CRKK tokens as Proof-of-Trust (PoT) in the consensus mechanism.

Your gateway constantly transacts with the blockchain. The transaction costs are called gas fees. Every beacon, witness or consensus event is processed 'on chain'. Also setting your location, activating your Crankk card or using the DEX are all handled by the Kadena blockchain. Such decentralised automation and transparency makes the Crankk network stand out among competitors.

Asking the blockchain to handle requests implies a processing cost: gas fees. These gas fees are paid by your gateway's wallet. If your gateway wallet runs too low on KDA to pay for gas fees, your gateway's actions will be rejected by the blockchain and your gateway will not be rewarded. Make sure to always have enough funds in your gateway wallet to pay for the gas fees. 1 KDA on chain 0 and 1 KDA on chain 19 of your gateway's wallet should last for months.
